FoSWL Board of Directors Candidate Ballot

The FoSWL Board of Directors candidate ballot will be sent out via email later in August to the wider FoSWL community for voting. When you receive it, please review the slate of candidates for the Board of Directors and cast your vote(s). You may vote for some or all of the listed candidates.  All eligible ballots must be returned either by email to frndsofswlibrary@gmail.com, or in-person at the South Whatcom Library or mail to: Friends of the South Whatcom Library Board of Directors, 10 Barn View Ct, Bellingham, WA  98229, and received no later than 5:00 pm FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2024.

Design, build, & share at this South Whatcom Library drop-in program for ages 4 and up. We provide the LEGO® bricks; you bring the creativity. What will you create?

Join us at the South Whatcom Library on the first Friday of each month to share your current read and hear about great new titles from others. This is a “choose your own” style book club where members will introduce others to their next favorite! Registration is required as space is limited. Looking for inspiration? Each month you can participate in our optional reading challenge; find and read a title related to the theme. September’s reading challenge: our theme this month is “Memoir or Biography”.

South Whatcom Play Date

Wednesdays, August 14, 21, 28

10:30am – 11:00am

Families with young children play and create at this informal social time. Toys and materials will be provided. Meets every Wednesday in August at the South Whatcom Library.

 Ice Cream Social

Friday, August 16 from 1:30pm – 4:30pm

Beat the heat with our annual Friends of the South Whatcom Library Ice Cream Social! Join us to build your own sundae, blow giant bubbles and get creative with sidewalk chalk drawing. Be sure to stop by the book sale to find your next read. 

All ages are welcome. Dairy-free ice cream options will be provided. Thank you to the Friends of the South Whatcom Library for their enthusiastic support of libraries and for making free events like this available to our community.   If you would like and are able to volunteer during this event, please let the South Whatcom Librarians know. Sign up sheet is in the library, and volunteers are still needed.

South Whatcom Social Hour

Thursday,  September 19  from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

Come to the South Whatcom Library on the 3rd Thursday of each month to connect with others in the community.  Join us for some informal conversations and enjoy some coffee or tea. Would you like to chat and do an activity at the same time? We will have a few games out for use during this drop-in social time.
