About

The Friends of South Whatcom Library (FoSWL) is a non-profit organization composed of volunteers from across the Geneva, Glenhaven and Sudden Valley communities. We love the South Whatcom Library, one of 10 libraries belonging to the Whatcom County Library System, and all it has to offer our communities. And we are committed to supporting the library and our communities through raising awareness of library services, by providing volunteer support for library events and activities, and by raising funds to support some of the library’s special needs (which means creating some of our own fund (“fun”) raising events).

We have a nine-member board of directors who oversee the mission and vision of the organization. Members of the board can also choose to serve on various committees and sub-committees in order to support the ongoing work of the organization. Members of the board are elected to a two-year term, with the possibility for re-election.

We have three standing committees: Membership, Resources and Development, and Concert. Each of these committees is led by a committee chair who may come from our membership or from the sitting board of directors. (See Committee Page for more information.)

We also have three sub-committees housed under the Resources and Development Committee. These include our Online Book Sales, our In-Library Book Sales, and our Website sub-committees. As with our standing committees, our sub-committees are led by a chairperson from the membership at large or from the sitting board of directors. (See Committee Page for more information.)

We currently have over 250 membership households across the Geneva, Glenhaven and Sudden Valley communities!

Friends of South Whatcom Library is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
