The Friends of the South Whatcom Library is seeking a Library Event Volunteer Coordinator. The Friends of the South Whatcom Library exists to enhance the South Whatcom Library services through support and advocacy, raising awareness of the library’s value in our community. Support your library by becoming involved with the Friends of the South Whatcom Library Board of Directors. The Volunteer Coordinator: Recruits volunteers.Fields volunteer requests for specific and/or ongoing library events.Oversees debriefs and celebrations.Records and reports volunteer hours monthly.This is a volunteer position requiring approximately three to six hours per month. SOUTH WHATCOM LIBRARY UPCOMING EVENTS LEGO® Club Tues, August 15, 22, 29 4:00pm – 5:30pm Design, build, & share at this drop-in program at South Whatcom Library for ages 4 and up. We provide the LEGO® bricks; you bring the creativity. What will you create? South Whatcom Play Date Wednesdays, August 16, 23, 30 from 10:30am – 11:00am Families with young children play and create at this informal social time. Toys and materials will be provided. Meets every Wednesday in August. Tai Chi Under the Trees Thursdays, August 17, 24, 31 from 10:30am – 11:30am Join us for a morning of Tai Chi in the South Whatcom Library garden every Thursday through August. These sessions will be led by Maple Falls resident Howard Holt and will focus on arthritis and fall prevention. Howard has a background in martial arts and 7 years of experience with Tai Chi instruction. Ice Cream Social Friday, August 18 from 1:30pm – 4:30pm Beat the heat with our annual Friends of the South Whatcom Library Ice Cream Social! Join us to build your own sundae, blow giant bubbles, and get creative with sidewalk chalk drawing. All ages are welcome. Dairy-free ice cream options will be provided. Thank you to the Friends of the South Whatcom Library for their enthusiastic support of libraries and for making free events like this available to our community.
