LEGO CLUB

Tuesdays, Oct 10, 17, 24, 31; Nov 7

4:00-5:30pm

Design, build, & share at this drop-in program for ages 4 and up. We provide the LEGO® bricks; you bring the creativity. What will you create?

Feeling festive this fall? Join the South Whatcom Library for a story and some seasonal fun decorating pumpkins!

Community Helpers Storytime

Wednesday, Oct 18, 25; Nov 1 from 10:30am – 11:00am

For ages 2–6, 30 minutes, A storytime featuring community helpers like firefighters, Humane Society workers, etc. Check with the South Whatcom Library to see a specific schedule of visitors.

Daffy Day

Saturday, Oct 21 from 11:00am – 3:00pm

Join us at the South Whatcom Library for Daffy Day! Attendees will receive free daffodil bulbs to bring home and plant, enjoy hot cider and snacks, and have fun with flower themed youth activities.

This event is hosted by the Friends of the South Whatcom Library and in partnership with the Sudden Valley Garden Club.  . If you have an hour to spare on either Wednesday or Thursday, October 18/19 to help fill bags and attach planting instructions, please call Elizabeth Huthert 360-671-6364.

The Write Stuff (Adults In-Person)

Do you have a book inside you just waiting to be written? Join author Barbara Davis-Pyles for a discussion of your genre options, the writing process, and the tools you need to get it done.

Barbara Davis-Pyles is a former psychologist who went out on a limb to pursue her passion for writing … It’s been a very long limb! Over the years, she’s created poems, a pipe organ demonstrator, and hundreds of stories and articles for the children’s education market. She is the author of Grizzly Boy (illustrator Tracy Subisak), Stubby, the Fearless Squid (Carolyn Conahan), Cliff, the Failed Troll (Justin Hillgrove), and Nobody Likes Frogs (Liz Wong).

Join us at the South Whatcom Library on the first Friday of each month to share your current read and hear about great new titles from others. This is a “choose your own” style book club where members will introduce others to their next favorite! Registration is required a space is limited.

Looking for inspiration? Each month you can participate in our optional reading challenge; find and read a title related to the theme below. November’s reading challenge: our theme this month is “food.”

Let’s Build a Treasure Box

Saturday, Nov 4 from 2:30pm – 3:30pm

Do you have a special place to keep your treasures? Come to the South Whatcom Library to decorate a box perfect for storing those valuable trinkets you don’t want to lose.

Storytime Pirate Party

Wednesday, Nov 8 from 10:30am – 11:30am

Ahoy, Mateys!  Storytime Pirate Party for ages 2-6 at the South Whatcom Library. Come dressed as a pirate if you like, and be prepared to walk the plank and look for treasure. Avast ye landlubbers!
